Myitkyina
Myitkyina is the largest town in Kachin
State. From myitkyina, visitors can tour the
confluence (Myitsone) of Maikha and Malikha,
the source of the Ayeyarwaddy
River. There are regular flight from Yangon and Mandalay to Myitkyina.
Situated in 779
km north of Mandalay. Two and half hour flight from Yangon via Mandalay
or 24-26
hours by train from Mandalay. |
PutaO
Puta-O is another town in Kachin
State surrounded by snow-peaked
mountains. It is cool the whole year round and there
are many varieties of
citrus fruits grown in the orchards. It is the nearest
town to the base camp
for climbing " Mt
- Khakaborazi "(5889 metres), which is
the highest
mountain in Myanmar and in South-east Asia. |

Indawgyi
Lake
Located 178 km Southeast of Myitkyina.
The lake is near Nanmoren
Village in Hopin. It is the largest lake which is 333
sq km wide in Myanmar
and is 45 km by car from Hopin Railway Station. The famous
Shwe Myint
Zu Pagoda Festival will be held around
February and March. Indawgyi
Pagoda is famous.
