Lashio
It is a trading town in Northern Shan
State, accessible by road from Mandalay. From Lashio, the famous Burma
Road, built by the British before the War, intersects with Ledo Road
Leading into the Yunnan Province. The sight seeing places are the
Chinese temple, the market and the hot water
spring. |
Hsipaw (Thibaw)
Hsipaw was once the center of
Shan State. This town is famous for its Shan
Palace where a Shan Princess from Austrial lived
until 1962. By
train from Mandalay the second highest Gokteik Bridge
can be seen.
It is one of the cities in northern
Shan State and for Tea-leaves
production. On the way to Thibaw, The famous “Goke
hteik viaduct” will be enjoyed just beyond Kyaukkme
and before Thibaw. Regarding on its
impressive structure, it is highly regarded as the prettiest
bridge in Myanmar
comparable to Wesminster bridge over Thame river of England.
Bawgyu
pagoda is in the commonest visiting point of the city
and plantations are
enjoyable. |

Gokteik
The second highest viaduct in the world constructed in about
1901 by American
Company. Passing on the Gokteik Bridge by train will
be a wonderful, thrilling
experience. |
