Online visa applications have begun flowing
in to the Immigration and National Registrations Department since
the e-visa system was launched in January
2004. This is an advantage for the tourists those do not have enough
time to apply the visa at Myanmar Embassy. “E-visa”
is a web-based entry visa application service. The website allows
visitors to the Union of Myanmar to apply for
your entry visa online, right from your home or work without having
to appear at a consulate in person. You are required to
fill in the application form for processing by the Immigration and
the National Registration Department. Approved application
are then returned by e-mail to you. You will need to carry a print-out
of the approved application form to show to Immigration
officials on their arrival in Myanmar. The e-visa
fee is US $ 20 for tourists, plus an online processing fee of US $
10 each. For now, you will pay these fees at the
airport on your arrival, but for the future Immigration and National
Registration Department have a plan for payment with a
credit card system. The validity and length of the e-visa is also
28 days and when the formerly is not done the bearer has a
grace of 90 days, after which the e-visa is not applicable. Some tourists
are using e-visas to enter Myanmar now. In June,
they will arrange for travel agents to apply this e-visa.
